Insight News MN’s Sports Editor, Leahjean “CoachLeah” Denley, who is also the driving force behind Tall Girls United, is gearing up for the second annual Tall Girls United Wellness Wealth and Winning Conference.
This event will also coincide with the pinnacle of women’s college basketball, the Women’s Final Four in Cleveland, Ohio. For those unfamiliar, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is the organizing body behind college sports events in the United States. The Women’s Final Four is the culmination of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament, where the top four college teams compete for the national championship. It’s a momentous occasion in women’s sports, showcasing the talent and dedication of student-athletes from across the country.
In a recent conversation on The Conversation with Al McFarlane, Coach Leah provided a sneak peek into the lineup of this transformative event. She excitedly shared, “We’ve got Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) legends headlining our panel discussion this year. We’re bringing in Semeka Randall to talk about recovering from injury and maintaining the right mindset.” Semeka Randall, a former WNBA player, promises to share invaluable insights into overcoming obstacles and achieving peak performance.
Another panelist, Vicki Hall, a WNBA legend and licensed financial advisor, will delve into financial literacy and goal setting. Coach Leah emphasized, “Her goal is not just financial literacy but truly understanding the goal setting behind understanding.” Vicki Hall’s expertise extends beyond the basketball court, providing attendees with practical advice for financial empowerment.
Tracy Henderson Edwards, a Minneapolis Northside native, will also join the panel discussion, discussing the champion mindset. Coach Leah expressed her anticipation, saying, “If she doesn’t know how to be a champion, I don’t know who does.” Tracy’s journey from aspiring athlete to inspiring leader is sure to resonate with attendees.
The conference will kick off with a coaches’ welcome reception on Thursday, April 4th, followed by the ultimate brunch and forum on Friday. Coach Leah highlighted the addition of breakout sessions, enhancing the interactive experience for attendees.
On Saturday, the conference will host a tip-off fashion show, promising a unique blend of style and substance. Coach Leah teased, “I’ll have a special guest joining us to talk about that next week.” The fashion show adds a touch of flair to the weekend’s festivities.
Sunday concludes with a praise and worship service, supporting the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and an inspiration and affirmations session, providing attendees with actionable insights to carry forward.
